Each sticker is made by Carrie Cheatham, a local artist and owner of Snail Mail. Craft paint and brown paper were the only two materials Carrie had when she first began making “Welcome Home” cards for our newest refugee neighbors and it’s still the only two supplies she uses to create cards today. The detail and care that goes into each card makes them more than just a folded piece of paper - they’re an original piece of artwork made especially for you to send to those you care for (or keep and frame for your own home!).
A portion of each sticker will benefit the Narratio Program through ReEstablish Richmond. This arts-based program provides refugee and immigrant youth a paid fellowship program that includes a summer intensive, monthly workshops, and a trip to NYC to showcase their art at the Met. With each card you are welcoming a young refugee in Richmond into their new culture through art and expression, while also giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents in their new community.
